UK TV Programme Supports Romania's Investment Promise
Channel 4 TV Programme Supports Romania's Investment Promise
A Channel 4 TV programme, A Place In The Sun, hosted by overseas property expert Amanda Lamb, recently listed Romania in its top 20 of the best locations to invest your money in property. The popular TV show claimed that house prices in Romania are expected to soar four-fold over the next 10 years as the country’s economy gets a boost following inclusion into the EU.
At the moment, you could buy an average house in Romania for around £17,000. However if ‘A Place in the Sun’s predictions are rights, an investment of £100,000 now could be worth £514,000 in a decades time, mainly due to the EU memberships impact on the country’s property market. If someone were to buy Romania property now should expect to be in a very strong position when EU membership is secured.
Romania is a former eastern bloc state and like nearby Bulgaria, is waiting on EU entry in 2007/8. However although a market to watch, Romania could be perceived as high risk by some due to corruption that is commonplace in these eastern European countries that are now repairing and restructuring their economies after years of communism and fighting amongst many of the Balkan states.
However, for those keen investors who are willing to take that risk in exchange for probable high return yields, simply have to sample Romania’s historic culture and natural beauty to understand why so many people are hailing this country as the next big thing.
The home of the infamous Count Dracula, Romania has a diverse landscape ranging from the popular large seaside stretch along the black sea coast to the striking Carpathian Mountain range in the enchanted land of Transylvania. The country is bordered by Bulgaria to the South, Serbia & Montenegro and Hungary to the West, the Ukraine is to the north and east, and Moldova is tucked in to the east. The capital city is Bucharest and house prices here are the most expensive, often much more than those on the coast. There are two airports, one in the capital city and the other in Timisoara, which is another property investment hotspot. The black sea coast spans 244 kilometres of Romania’s southeastern coastline and is home to an abundance of modern seaside resorts.
Romania is a vast and naturally blessed land famous for its healing power that comes from its many natural springs. Just 2 hours out of Bucharest, one can be amidst breath-taking scenery with pine forests, vast meadows and mountain landscapes and blending together seamlessly. Romania is also home to a permanent ice cave and an ecological excursion of a lifetime at the mouth of the Danube Delta. The country’s temperatures ranges from about 20 to 22 degrees Celsius in the summer time and –4 to 7 in the winter
The Country’s transport links should be significantly improved with the completion of the Budapest-Bucharest Transylvanian Superhighway in 2012, which will dramatically cut overland travel time between Bucharest and other major European cities. Many Romania people are fluent in English and the Romania language itself resembles Italian, French and Spanish meaning that the language-barrier will not be difficult to break.
With all that this country has to offer and its future earning potential, investment seekers should definitely take it seriously.
